Information:

The following is a general overview of the District Simplified Grant process 2009-2010:
  1. 100% match of your club funds up to a maximum of $2,000.
  2. For local projects only (no international projects are funded).
  3. Awards will begin mid-July and will continue until all funds are allocated.  Please note that for applications received by July 16, 2010, the applications will be reviewed as a group and will no longer be reviewed on a first come-first serve basis.  To the extent funds are still available, applications will then be reviewed on a first come-first serve basis.
  4. Priorities for DSG Committee awards determination include: timely submission, club contributions to support The Rotary Foundation, number of club members involved in the project, coordination with RI and District goals for community service, whether this is a new project and the benefit to the community.
  5. Very simple application process.
  6. Requires involvement of Club members in the project.
  7. Must be identified as a Rotary Project.
  8. Must be completed in same Rotary year as granted.
  9. Simple report is due for accountability; and
  10. No applications are accepted after October 1, 2010.

The District 6690 Leadership Team encourages all clubs to consider applying for a DSG grant and have set up guidelines for approval.  In order to help all clubs comply, please carefully read the following information:

  1. Only one request per club will be considered to share funds among the most clubs.
  2. The project must be something tangible that can be identified as a Rotary Club project and NOT just part of fundraising.
  3. The application must include:
    • Amount of matching funds requested from the District on the budget section.
    • Letters of support from cooperating organizations (example, school or library if donating books, etc.) documenting project is acceptable to them.
    • Names and contact information of at least two club Rotarians responsible for the project and reports.
  4. The Club is responsible for making sure that any reports are completed and filed since compliance is MANDATORY and future DSG grants may not be funded for the whole district if a Club fails to file any of the required reports.
  5. Grants can be sent to the District Grants Chair after April 30th and applications received prior to July 16, 2010 will be reviewed as a group.  For applications filed after July 16th, the applications will be reviewed on a first come-first serve basis until all of the funds have been awarded.
