Information: November is Rotary Foundation month, the time we focus on all the fantastic projects Rotarians do with the help of Foundation grants. District 6690 Rotarians generously donated $262,000 to our Foundation last year, and those contributions enabled our Clubs to show Service Above Self throughout not only our District but around the world. This article highlights the service projects conducted by District 6690 through the use of grants made possible by your donations to the Annual Fund. These grants include the District Simplified Grants (DSG), the Matching Grants (MG), and Volunteer Service Grants (VSG). Matching Grants support Rotary Clubs and Districts as they work with international partners to address humanitarian conditions that benefit communities in need. Our District has had strong participation in this program this year with the following projects: CLUB PROJECT Athens Providing water wells and sanitation blocks in India Athens Partnering with a Club in India to providing reading materials and math books for the Trimble, Ohio School District Capital Square Provide a retaining dam, water chlorination and distribution system in Honduras Columbus Provide adequate portable drinking water in India Columbus and Upper Arlington Providing a water pipeline and distribution tank in Guatemala Dublin-Worthington Providing water quality testing services in the Dominican Republic Gallipolis Medical and dental mission in the Philippines Gallipolis, Jackson Dover Supply medical, dental and surgical services to local school children in the Philippines Gallipolis, St. Clairsville and Zanesville Daybreak Providing deworming medicine to students in the Phillipines Newark Providing potable water through a water reservoir and pump in Mali District Operation Smile Committee Performing reconstructive surgery in Mexico Olentangy Providing 12 water cisterns for the village of Santa Rosa de Lima in El Salvador                                 Our District is very active in the grants program and provides significant financial support to our District Clubs for both local and international service projects and we strive to maximize the use of the donations that are given by our District Rotarians during the annual fund drive.
